Insider Knowledge
Why Batter Matters
There’s something viscerally magnetic about the notion that we’ve found a unique insight, especially if it promises a personal benefit.
The notion that our lives are “hyper-connected” has been offered up by those in the know recently. We are so fortunate. Tibetan Buddhists talk about “terma” being found teachings – precious gems – that are hidden to be discovered at a later time when people are able to understand them. We are no doubt surrounded by such insider knowledge and only limited by our ability to discern the real jewels.

In previous substacks I talked about the power of an idea, how our thoughts have agency and can take on a life of their own. I pointed to the hyper-spirit-of-our-times, and suggested that due to the collapse of an authority story, we have a tremendous opportunity to fine-tune a new narrative.
I want to thank all the contributors here and elsewhere. Full disclosure, I don’t miss a Clif High post, I read NE everyday, Airmail every week, and go to X for news. Local media and everyone hiding behind a paywall while virtue signalling are of course highly suspect.
The real gem here is Kent Forbes The Simulation Hypothesis. This was first posted to the Oatcake Blog in 2016, and rediscovered last November. Yes, 10 years ago I no doubt watched this as a curiosity, but was way too comfortable (in the simulation) to take it seriously. Sim theory is like that. Everyone knows about it but who actually is prepared to discuss the implications?
Actually I went with a friend to the Fritjof Capra Tao of Physics lecture at the University of Toronto in 1975+. That means it’s only taken half a century to come to grips with what science has been discovering about the nature of our universe.
When the student is ready the teacher appears as they say. Kent Forbes is a mystery and anonymous online. The documentary was made as a nonprofit educational film. Recently I’ve watched it multiple times. I’ve also watched other films on the subject, and tend to agree that this is the best.
Interesting that I also subscribed to Tom Campbell’s My Big TOE (Theory of Everything) which is based on a Simulation Hypothesis and was published around the same time. Tom appears in the documentary.
Tom Campbell advances a moral compass based on how actions decrease or increase entropy. Makes sense and yet some say entropy itself is a fiction (beyond my pay grade). Yungkingmito posted in September The Universal Law of Loyalty which posits a pole star for humanity.
Could these be building blocks for a new narrative? The Simulation Hypothesis is basically a variation on our creation myth. Less surreal than Eden or even Turtle Island, it’s not about matter. The batter matters. But what really matters here is consciousness itself.

This is great! I hear your voice in it and it’s very clear and bright -and I really love having this list ! because of your curiosity you shared it with us! Generosity is the stairway to the higher realms. I hope to see you there.
